Why does an Apple Live Photo consist of both JPG and MOV?

Apple's Live Photo architecture requires a still image (JPG/HEIC) and a matching QuickTime video (MOV) that share the exact same ContentIdentifier UUID tag. Our engine generates both with standard Apple MakerNote Key 17 injection.
